Mar 29, 2024

An alleged bogus doctor who offers cosmetic treatments and procedures was arrested in Makati City, the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

In a statement released on Thursday, the CIDG said the Chinese national suspect identified as Haitao Gong was arrested in a police operation on July 31 after a complaint was filed against him.

“Acting on the complaint, agents of CIDG NCR conducted an entrapment operation which resulted in the apprehension of the suspect after he was caught in the act of performing medical services,” it said.

According to the CIDG, the suspect “failed to present any pertinent documents for his authority and license to practice the medical profession.”

The suspect allegedly managed and operated "Avonnea Skin Care Center" which offers various cosmetic treatments and procedures.

Among the confiscated evidence from the operation were syringes, a bottle of Botox, enzyme mask, serum, surgical clamp, and cotton swabs.

The suspect will be facing criminal charges for violation of the Medical Act of 1959, according to the CIDG.

“The CIDG warns the public not to fall victim to this type of malpractice and put their safety at risk,” CIDG chief Police Major General Romeo Caramat Jr. said.

“We will be vigilant to ensure that illegal actions and wrongdoings are permanently stopped, as a commitment to support the directive of our [PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr.] of ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law throughout the country,” he added. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
